It is only natural that the people who see our work associate us with the beautiful furniture, cabinetry, and interiors we create, but we identify ourselves by the design service we offer. Ours is a true design/build shop.

Great design is emotional. It wells from the excitement and enthusiasm we feel about the process. It is exhibited in the work, and shared with those who eventually live surrounded by the resulting creations.

One of our most rewarding moments is when a client catches the excitement of a design. You can see it when it happens. A little smile, and you see them thinking, "Oh, this is really going to be something special!"

Sometimes it is prompted by a particularly clever solution for a problem area. Sometimes it occurs when the whole project first comes into clear focus before them. Sometimes it happens when they glimpse a vision of how beautiful the piece promises to be. Sometimes it happens when the first of the work is being brought into the house. Whenever it occurs, it echoes the same moments that occur for us throughout the design process.

It is not always easy for people to describe what they want, "I would know it if I saw it, but it isn’t out there, I’ve looked and looked." They haven’t seen it yet because we haven’t designed it for them yet. What’s amazing is how long people will search in vain before they turn to us for what they want.
The design process begins as a conversation, and we know how to listen very carefully. People bring us snapshots, napkin doodles, floor plans, magazine pages…basic measurements are always helpful. An architect’s plans are a good start on some projects, on others a rough sketch of a wall will suffice. It is helpful for us to hear about the other pieces that will be in the room. This gives us a sense of the styles you like, and whether we will want to match existing work, or develop a design for a new stylistic direction.

Once we have developed a concept and outlined a budget, we make a site visit before we start our final shop drawings. Working with a Macintosh based cadd program, we then produce a complete set of working drawings. These allow everyone involved to see, in detail, exactly how the finished project will look.

Over the years, we have designed cabinetry, furniture, and interior spaces for all kinds of homes…expansive new houses, historic restorations, empty nester remodels, and additions for growing families. We work directly with homeowners, architects, builders, and decorators. All of these are people who share our enthusiasm for the spaces where people share their lives with family and friends.

Dreams fulfilled upon request…just tell us what you need.
