OLD WOOD IN A NEW KITCHEN 6015.1 Charlottesville, VA
This island and suspended pot rack are built of English White Oak, salvaged from vats out of an old, English brewery. The wood’s straight grain, tight knots, and legendary durability make it the ideal material for this reincarnation in cabinetry. One section of the top drops down, on the far side, to conceal a sink and cutting boards. The bolection molding, around the door panels and drawer fronts, echoes the detail on the surrounding, glazed cabinetry, while the spiral columns and closed, furniture base, further distinguish the naturally finished oak piece.
